Our Christmas 2010 in Pictures

Well, as the end of the year and beginning of the next is now upon us. I guess I better catch you up on our Christmas before the calendar rolls over to a new year full of possibilities. As a picture is worth {at least} a thousand words, I will let these pics do most of the "talking".

Such a blessing to know that wherever you are and whomever you are with, the meaning of Christmas never changes. God's most precious gift to us in the form of a wee babe in a manger--the Saviour of all mankind. Hope you had a very blessed Christmas and took time to think on these things.

10 months--Where has this year gone?

As Christmas is {SUPER} quickly approaching and it will be my Baby-Man's very 1st Christmas and our 1st Christmas as a {cute} lil' family of 4, it catches me a bit by surprise. I must pause and reflect a bit over the last 10 months that we have been so blessed to have this happy, not-so-little, chunky, unbelievably adorable "butter ball" in our lives. God has truly given us a special treasure in our Ethan.

These first few pictures really give you a glimpse into our Baby Man's sweet personality. As you can see by his extra-sad eyes, he was fighting a nasty cold/fever and yet, the smile stayed firmly in place on his round little face. You could tell by looking at him and also by the amount of water running from his eyes, nose and mouth, that he was feeling completely miserable. Really broke his mama's ♥ to see him feeling so bad and yet handling it so well. Such a little trooper!

This picture gives you just a tiny glimpse at the amazing Handsomeness that I get to enjoy everyday! He's such a doll, with his button nose, cute little dimply cheeks, 2 mini chompers, killer smile and gorgeous baby blues! What more can I say?! I am in L♥VE!!

Baby Man turned 10 months a few days ago, it seems that every time I turn around another month has flown by. Time especially seems to be escaping me as he did not seem to stay a newborn for very long; he has packed on the pounds in a hurry with his man-size appetite! And now as he is waiting on 4 teeth to make their grand entrance {and mama is bracing herself for the cranky days ahead}, Maybe, just maybe, they could stay put a few days longer and let us enjoy Christmas in peace?!? Don't you think that would be nice?!

Ethan~
Mommy loves you sooooo much
I am so blessed to have you in my life
and can't wait to share in your 1st Christmas
and see the wonder in your big, blue eyes.
You are such a special gift from God.
I truly feel that I got my best Christmas present already,
just 10 months early,
His name is Ethan Matthew.
Merry Christmas, my treasure!
Hugs and Kisses!
Your Mama

Christmas Cookie Frenzy

Well, the baking of delicious, chewy, and otherwise fattening things has begun...and come to an end, too! When you are living abroad in a foreign land far south of the equator and therefore have opposite seasons, you quickly learn to take advantage of the good weather that the Lord gives you. You see, Friday was a blazing scorching 90 something degrees in the shade kind of day. The sort of day that, when you don't have central air conditioning {I think I have heard of that, can you please explain what it is?}, you do your best to move as little as possible and stay in front of a fan at all times with a cold glass of lemonade within reach. Needless to say, near unbearable weather, stifling, and not fit for man nor beast.

BUT, Jesus loves me {Big Smile} and sent relief. Rain, glorious rain arrived late Friday night and did a marvelous job of, not only watering the parched flowers, but cooling us off by about a 30 degree drop in temperature! I admit it seemed a bit surreal after the heat of the day before and I wasn't quite sure how to dress myself or my little charges. So, what did I do? I didn't dress my little baker girl at all. I left her in her comfy pink kitty PJs and we made cookies to our hearts content, and then some!

What a time we had! We started with peanut butter cookies, a very rare and priceless thing to behold here in this "peanut butter-less" land, complete with chocolate kisses on top. Clara had such fun pressing them in just so. Then we moved on to Snickerdoodles {YUM!} and had a ball rolling them into balls and rolling the balls in the cinnamon/sugar mixture. Clara is a first-rate "cookie dough ball roller"! Ha! Later the Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookies were prepared and some Oatmeal Raisin, too! Screech, screech, open, shut, went the oven door. It did not get much rest that day, to be sure! Checking the cookies, changing racks, letting them cool, starting over again. In and out of the oven quick as a flash, and the wonderful aroma that filled the house and warmed my heart. Not only the wonderful tradition of Christmas baking, but also the beautiful sharing of time, precious quality time, with my dearest daughter. I cannot tell you how blessed I am and how I treasure these special moments.

All things Girly

The girly things that I like, naturally, my girly girl likes, too. When I am in the bathroom putting on my makeup (a rather rare occurrence, I admit) she is usually found right there beside me, watching what I do and asking me for "lip stuff" and "fluffy stuff".

If I am painting my toenails, she of course, wants hers done, too. And don't forget the finger pretties. (Pretty sad when your 3 year old has WAY better fingernails than you, huh?! Some old habits die very hard, slow, and painful deaths)

So, sometimes we just have to stop, enjoy the moment, and be girly--makeup, nails, hair, the works. :))

I think doing our nails is our favorite!

Getting the "Royal Treatment"

Tootsies up...this is the life!!

Letting the pretties dry

All the cute piggies!

TA DA!!!

Have I ever mentioned how much fun it is to have a little girl?!! It's the BEST!! ♥

Christmas Preparations

So, my Christmas cards are all DONE!!! YAY!! Well, at least on MY part they are. Christmas cards from another continent are a bit easier said than done, but since I have a very loving and supportive and helpful family back home, they, too, can be conquered. Here's how it worked out this year for me:

Me + Walgreens Photo Center = Picture Christmas Cards made and ordered

A few calls to my sweet MIL and emails to my BIL = Cards picked up and envelopes printed

Cards awaiting to be stuffed and dropped in the mail (o yah, don't forget the costly postage, too!)

Me, getting a check out in the mail to pay for all of my sent "holiday tidings", oh wait, UNcheck that one, still need to do that {sheepish grin}

{BTW, I haven't forgotten you, but will "unveil" my Christmas Card on here in another post--Soon!}

On the "shopping horizon", I will admit that last year didn't see much activity in this dept. Am attempting to make up for it a bit this year. Thank the Lord, for modern technology and online shopping.

After a few hours and pages and pages of sites and products, gifts have been chosen, charged, and, I believe, have all safely arrived in the awaiting hands of my 2 moms, who are on wrapping detail.

As for the home front, slowly, but surely, a bit here and a bit there, the kiddos have accumulated a decent pile of gifts awaiting for them. As for mama and papa, well, we have a few little goodies to look forward to, and even some packages from afar to open, too--When the day comes, of course!! And don't forget, there's that wrapping yet to take care of here, too!

Food wise--let me tell ya, part of me is anticipating the consumption of all those scrumptious, sugary goodies, and then on the other hand, dreading the baking in 90+* weather with no A/C part. Going to try to come up with a plan of attack that will allow for lots of goodies yet less on the baking. We shall see how that goes...

A few of the "Winners" thus far are:
(No, this does not mean I have actually made them yet, why get in a hurry?)

Oreo Truffles--so easy, so good, so fattening (Thanks, Missy!)
Peanut Butter Balls--must crack open the precious stock of PB for an occasion like this!
Snickerdoodles--cuz they are delish!!
No bake cookies--I can feel them clogging my arteries as I type this

And, well, we will see how much time and energy {if I don't melt into a big puddle} I have left after these have been tackled.

Decor--looks something like this:

My pretty little candles and snowmen grace the mantel and are watched over by my loving family!

Here's a better look (btw, the big snowman is actually a cookie jar, so if I actually get around to making all those aforementioned cookies one of these days, well, I will know right where to put them {WINK}

My Smores Couple (from Christmas '06) and a snowglobe picture frame with my baby Clara, who is really enjoying "shaking herself" ha

Stockings hung...on the curtain rod, and with not so much care...it's HOT here so we have to open and close the windows often, you understand

My new table runner, and some decor. that reminds me of the lovely people that gave them to me for Christmases gone by

Our Family Picture/Ornament from Christmas '08

♥ Our 1st Christmas Ornament ♥ (This year will be our 7th Christmas married and our 10th Christmas together! Amazing!)

Our Christmas Ornament from '05--S.S. Katfish--Isn't he cute?!

"His and Her" Ornaments from my in-laws for our 1st Christmas

And, of course, a little snow--the BEST kind, too, IMO, at least the clean up will be a LOT easier ;)
That's about it.
Simple, pretty, and a little taste of home. It truly is a wonderful time of year, wouldn't you agree?
Best wishes for your Christmas preparations!
